What about Tecna?
Tecna. The fairy of technology that we all know and love. She’s been on Winx Club since day one. She is irreplaceable, no doubt. But is Tecna as loved by the makers of Winx Club as she is by us?
Let’s compare what we know about Tecna to what we know about Roxy, the newest fairy of the Winx group. We know Roxy is the princess of Tir Nan Og, she is (or was) the last fairy of Earth, she has a past very similar to Bloom’s and she’s the fairy of animals. We know Tecna is the fairy of technology, she comes from Zenith (according to a comic, she’s the princess there, but that may not apply to the show) and…that’s it.
How is it that Roxy has only been around for one season and we know so much more about her than Tecna, who’s been around for all four seasons and the movie? I like Roxy and all, but this doesn’t seem fair.
Let’s talk about Layla (who came in Season 2) for a minute. We learned more about Layla in half of season 2 than we did about Tecna in 1 1/2 seasons. Now yes, Layla is as irreplaceable as Tecna, but that doesn’t change the fact that Tecna was there first.
Tecna isn’t completely neglected, of course. She’s been in the spotlight quite a few times. But spotlight isn’t enough and it seems to be just so we remember that she exists rather than learn about her. Even her relationship with Timmy is barely paid attention to (possibly less than Tecna herself). Why can’t we know about Tecna’s family? Why can’t we see her planet? Is our beloved Tecna close to being nothing more than a standby character?
There is supposed to be a fifth season and a second movie. Of course, the second movie will be focused on Bloom, but hopefully in Season 5, we’ll learn more about Tecna. It’s unlikely since Season 5 will most likely focus on Roxy again, but even if we learn just a little bit more about Tecna, that will be good.
Tecna deserves so much more attention in the show than she gets. Let’s hope she eventually gets it.

I have also said this time after time. Saddly I don’t think we will learn anymore about her, all the seem to care for is Bloom and Roxy(but I love Roxy!). A friend of mine and myself ended up starting a fanfic that gives more of a history for both Tecna and Stella. Including giving them both sisters, our take on season 5.
